Join us for a conversation between iconographer Jonathan Pageau and mythologist Martin Shaw.
We are honoured to be welcoming Jonathan Pageau and Martin Shaw to speak to us on Christian Symbolism and the Mythic Imagination.
Jonathan Pageau is a French Canadian icon-carver, cartoonist, writer, public speaker, and podcaster who explores the symbolic patterns that underlie our experience of the world, how these patterns emerge and come together, and how they can be traced in religion, art, and popular culture. He is also the editor of the Orthodox Arts Journal and host of “The Symbolic World” website.
Martin Shaw is an award-winning author, mythologist, and storyteller. Currently Reader in Poetics at Dartington Arts School, he founded both the “Oral Tradition” and “Mythic Life” courses at Stanford University and was Artistic Director of the Great Mother Conference in Maine. His areas of interest are Irish myth and folklore, the philosophy of John Moriarty, the Grail legend of Parzival, Siberian folk tales, and indigenous culture, contemporary Romanticism, Ethnopoetics, the poetry of Federico Garcia Lorca and Ted Hughes.
Please do join us for what promises to be a fascinating series of conversations followed by drinks and canapés with the speakers afterwards.
